My meeting with Dr. Susan Baum, a legend and a hero.
We have had the honor of being a case study, both Ozzy and I, for Bridges Graduate School of Cognitive Diversity, under various courses of study, for the past 2 years. Studying both Oscar, as a Twice Exceptional Student and myself, as an advocate. Dr. Susan Baum, the Chancellor of Bridges, has become a mentor over the years as she grew to know our case intimately. Dr. Baum is a pioneer in the research and education of Twice Exceptional Children. Having been a Special Education teacher herself for decades, and then a gifted education teacher- led her to uncovering the Twice Exceptional student- those who are a combination of both. These students are her passion and she is educating a whole new force of support for these kids through her Graduate Programs. Her students come from all over the world. They are parents, educators, administrators, lawyers, doctors, psychologists- all wanting to educate themselves about this unique and underserved student population. Her students are the future change makers and leaders in this field of study and research and education. Having the opportunity to meet with her Graduate students, after they had been studying our case, was such an amazing moment for me. This video is part of that meeting and explains how and why I became an advocate for my son and now for others.
